Westbrook Makes NBA History with 25th Triple-Double of the Season
Former Seattle Supersonic Contributes to Clippers' Victory
Russell Westbrook III, born November 12, 1988, made NBA history on Tuesday when he recorded his 25th triple-double of the season.
Playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Westbrook achieved the milestone with a driving layup in the fourth quarter of the team's 136-124 victory over the Detroit Pistons. He finished the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Westbrook's accomplishment marks a significant achievement in his illustrious career. He is the first player to record 25 triple-doubles in a season since Oscar Robertson did so in the 1961-62 season.
Prior to his time with the Clippers, Westbrook played for the Seattle SuperSonics, who selected him with the fourth overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft. He spent 11 seasons with the SuperSonics before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019.
